Julie Ann Winkelstein was a public librarian for 20 years, working in jails and prisons, family literacy, on a bookmobile and in a branch as a young adult and children’s librarian. She received her PhD in 2012 and her dissertation focused on the role of libraries in the lives of unhoused LGBTQ+ youth.
